Football Legends Call In at ACC Liverpool with a Very Special Visitor
21 Jan 09Staff at Liverpool's Arena & Convention Centre Liverpool have greeted a very special visitor to the venue - The FA Cup, ahead of The FA Cup Fourth Round tie between the great Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton.
Football legends Graeme Sharpe and Ian Rush dropped the trophy off at the venue as part of a nationwide tour organised by E.ON, sponsor of The FA Cup and one of the UK’s leading energy companies. Both players played in what is generally regarded as one of the best Merseyside derbies ever - a thrilling 4-4 draw in The FA Cup Fifth Round in 1991.
Over 80 staff at ACC Liverpool had the opportunity to get their hands on the famous trophy alongside the former Liverpool and Everton strikers.
Since opening its doors in January 2008, ACC Liverpool has been one of E.ON’s most prestigious business customers and has hosted the MTV awards and the recent Sports Personality of the Year event. It is also one of the most sustainable venues in Europe with its environmentally-friendly measures halving the level of CO2 emissions expected from such a venue.
