Cabbies Get The Knowledge

3 Nov 09

A special 'Knowledge' event, organised by Liverpool Convention Bureau, takes place at the BT Convention Centre on November 6th for local cabbies, concierges and hotel and restaurant staff in the city.

Guests at the event will be given a behind the scenes look at the venue, learn about the quickest routes in and out, the best places to park as well as getting a sneak preview of all the latest big events coming to Liverpool.

Jacquie Rogers, General Manager for the BT Convention Centre, said: "Tens of thousands of people are coming to Liverpool for events every year and often their first point of contact is with the taxi driver, who picks them up from Lime Street station, or the waitress who serves them their morning coffee.

"While London black cab drivers may be renowned the world over for their knowledge, we believe Liverpool's are just as impressive. We recognise the important role our frontline partners play in welcoming our delegates to the city and this event is a thank you as well as an opportunity to learn about forthcoming events in 2010 and how our partners can benefit from extra business into the city."

Carol O'Reilly, Manager for Liverpool Convention Bureau, added: "First impressions are incredibly important - a stay in Liverpool can start on a 'high' or a 'low' depending on the first person a visitor meets.  For this reason we want to offer all possible support to the city's frontline staff to help make a visit to Liverpool memorable for all the right reasons."

The drop in event will be held between 12-4pm and entrance to the venue will be via the Galleria on the City side.

Every attendee will be entered into a prize draw where they stand a chance to win an exclusive night out for two.
