ACC Liverpool goes to London

20 Nov 08

THE team from Liverpool's Arena and Convention Centre travelled to London to host their third annual showcase.

The event, named Liverpool: 2008 and Beyond, was attended by agents, media and event organisers and was designed to give London-based organisers an insight into ACC Liverpool's opening year.

The evening included a presentation by ACC Liverpool's chief executive, Bob Prattey, who talked about some of the highlights in what has been a strong opening year for the Kings Waterfront venue.

The Echo Arena has played host to some of 2008's biggest events including the MTV European Music Awards, La Machine art extravaganza and the Stirling Prize, hosted by Channel 4's Kevin McCloud.

The adjoining BT Convention Centre has proved equally popular as the venue of choice for conferences by the Liberal Democrats, supermarket giant Iceland and British Council of Shopping Centres amongst others.

The Mersey Partnership's Gary Adlen followed with a report on the phenomenal investment into Liverpool and a discussion on what the future holds beyond the city’s year as Capital of Culture.

Jacquie Rogers, General Manager of the BT Convention Centre, said: "The event was a major success for the team in terms of developing our relationships with London-based agents, buyers and media."

Accompanying the team in London were ACC Liverpool's partner hotels and venues from across the city.  Guests at the event had the opportunity to talk with partners and find out more about the diversity of the Liverpool offer.

A prize draw on the evening featured three fabulous weekend breaks in the city with prizes donated by Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, the Radisson Hotel, Pan American, Premier Inn Hotel (Albert Dock) and the Beatles Story.
