Supermarket Boss Checks Out ACC Liverpool

8 Jul 09 Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy has branded ACC Liverpool "magnificent". 
 
The Liverpool-born businessman credited the venue, which is home to the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena, with playing a critical role in driving the city towards European greatness.
 
Speaking in an interview with the Liverpool Daily Post, he said: "The Conference Centre has brought the hotels which have brought the guests. Those guests are the people who make the investment decisions. I think therefore that the Convention Centre is a big connection to the outside world.
 
"All the 'specialities' can now come to Liverpool for their conferences and once here they can see the value of placing their business in the city region." 
 
He added: "The city centre has been transformed and the underlying economic statistics are strong. Liverpool One is magnificent. So is the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre.
 
"We are catching up with other cities now, not falling behind."
